Imagine a 10-year-old child in Gurugram who wants to study. Her parents work as daily wage labourers, and she has never been to school. She walks to the nearest government school to enrol and is turned away. She has no birth certificate or Aadhaar, and she is now “too old” for the entry class.
This is the problem Naya Sawera Gurgaon NGO solves.
The problem: a door that closes at age 10
India has strong education schemes on paper, but many children fall through the gaps:
- Missing documents: Migrant and low-income families often lack birth certificates, address proof or school records.
- Age barrier: Children above the eligible age for entry-level classes are often refused admission.
- Cost of daily life: Books, uniforms and meals are out of reach, so children end up selling balloons or helping at home.
Once this window closes, a child may never study again. The loss is not only the child’s. It affects the family’s income for generations.
What Naya Sawera Gurgaon does
For the last 6 years, Naya Sawera Gurgaon has been giving these children free, quality education. Today 355 children are registered across two centres, in Sector 82 and Sector 85, Gurugram.
- Free quality education every day, Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 2 PM
- Support with documentation, so children can move toward formal schooling
- Nutrition and meals, so no child studies hungry
- Skill development and emotional care in a safe, child-friendly space
We don’t just teach. We open doors.
How CSR can help
Under Section 135 of the Companies Act, eligible companies must spend on CSR, and education is a recognised area under Schedule VII. A CSR partnership can:
- Sponsor a child’s learning journey: Fund teachers, classroom material and learning hours.
- Fund nutrition: Daily meals improve attendance and focus.
- Support documentation and mainstreaming: Help children get the papers they need for formal schools.
- Strengthen the two centres: Support infrastructure, digital learning and safe spaces.
- Engage employees: Volunteer days, teaching sessions and mentoring.
What corporates get
- Measurable outcomes (enrolment, attendance, learning levels) with regular reporting
- Two local centres in Gurugram that your team can visit
- Alignment with Schedule VII education objectives
- A partner working directly on the ground, six days a week
Your CSR can be the reason a child gets her first classroom
The child at the school gate does not need sympathy. She needs a system that says yes.
